Objective: Students will be able to solve for a missing variable in an equation.

This activity would be done in a freshman algebra class. It is a project that should be done outside of the classroom. If students do not have the proper resources to complete this project outside of school I will provide them with the time and resources to get it done in school. This project would be assigned after an in depth lesson on sceencast-o-matic and a brief overview of the Algebra Balance Scales tool from the National Library of Virtual Manipulatives.

The final product submitted by the students will be a YouTube video created using screencast-o-matic. The video will show the computer screen while a student solves three problems using Algebra Balance Scales. In addition, the students will be describing their methods and thought process for solving each step of the problems.
